PLAYOHO Art Pavilion comprises of 28 nos. of circular rings on columns with different materials and characters which moves in wind and cast shadows on ground. It creates a free public space for citizens to stop their hectic pace, stay, and hang around freely. Appreciating the skylight and wind. It encourages the public to slow down and rest on the lawn and have a moment of free play, or doing nothing practically but watching the wind move the rings.
Continue readingThe new development emphasizes the historical planning structure of the ensemble of former factory buildings and "opens" the territory to business, visitors and residents. The demolition of inefficient structures on the embankment will promote the creation of view corridors towards the Moscow River. Getting a unique and attractive public image will be reached through the reconstruction of the structures along the riverbank and accommodation of shopping arcades going into the inland of the plot.
Continue readingLocated in the heart of downtown Chapel Hill, the 140 West Urban Plaza is the first project in a larger town masterplan to invigorate this college town with greater pedestrian oriented landscapes. Framed by mixed-use development, this central gathering space offers a much-needed public forum for play. The plaza is anchored by a dynamic sculptural fog fountain that utilizes mist and color to define arterial pedestrian connections and encourage multi-generational engagement. This restorative project celebrates the hydrological cycles of the environment.
Continue readingLocated in the heart of Boston’s historic Back Bay neighborhood, the design of the Prudential Plaza highlights the wind patterns on site through such innovative elements as seemingly wind-swept, carved granite planters and a grove of forty-four color-changing steel light columns, each capped with a sculptural wind vane that moves with the wind. These “light vanes” transform this urban plaza into a living wind map. Designed in conjunction with the new 888 Boylston Street tower, the plaza has become an epicentre for retail, dining, and civic events in downtown Boston.
Continue readingThe Regenstein Learning Campus is a new environmental discovery center and nature playground at the Chicago Botanic Garden. This six-acre horticultural center is LEED Platinum certified and serves as a vibrant community for more than 125,000 visitors each year. The design immerses families and children of all ages in a variety of outdoor experiences that engenders a deeper understanding of ecological systems. Visitors encounter a variety of natural experiences and explorations as they weave through the grassy mounds, water runnels, boulders, diverse woodland plantings and willow tunnels.

Reducing people reliance on automobiles, the project provides 36 buildings with apartments, offices, retails and green spaces within an infinitive loop. The 8 minute journey from home to work will be filled with greenery, activities and excitement. Different active and passive strategies are also used in the buildings and master plan to promote a healthy lifestyle. In the next 15 years, 10 phases of construction will start and each phase will balance work, live and play with minimum impact to the environment.
